VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT“, on Facebook, Have You? Or a Malware in disguise? Your Facebook Wall post appear to be sent via iPhone from your friend’s mobile. Has the link really helps by PREVENTING SPAM?

The best response is not panic and do NOT click any link next to “Comment’ on your Facebook wall. It does not help to prevent spam at all. The link “VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT“, contains Javascript which may cause harm to your account and computer. Facebook Post will be sent from your friends whom has tagged your name.

However, clicking the “Notification” located at the top left corner is safe. Including  Commenting and clicking “Like”, both are safe.

The quoted message shown below, or at least, somewhat resemblance of any keywords, such as “VERIFY MY ACCOUNT” and “PREVENTING SPAM“. The intention is to scare users, by causing them panic without any second thought of questioning if there are genuine post.

Above is a snap shot of how it looks from the sender, who is your friend in the list. Beside post is in English, it can also appear in Japanese language. Therefore, I supposed the program script is written in such a way it align with the language setting on your PC or facebook account.

How to solved this?

By accusing your friend who has sent this to you will not work, since your friend remains as your friend who is not an enemy.

This could be identified as phishing. Simply put it….his/her password has been stolen, without their knowing.

Therefore, changing the password definitely help for this case. It has to be an immediate effect, otherwise, virus and malware continue to spread like wildfire!! .

Hope the above information helps. Another related post for your reference on malware is Facebook Phishing Scams, Are You One of The Victims?
